Chinese Solution to Pesticide Resistance

Chinese Solution to Pesticide Resistance

"256 million US dollars, 140,000 compounds, 8.3 years."This is the time and space dimension of the previous research and development of a new pesticide product. This set of data is fixed in people's memory because it has been quoted by numerous industries. Now, this data has been refreshed: "The research and development cost of new pesticides is 286 million US dollars, 160,000 compounds, 11.3 years!" "The development rate of pest drug resistance has exceeded the development rate of new drugs!" Rui Changhui said, a researcher in the Institute of Plant Protection of the Chinese Academy of Agricultural Sciences.

The problem of pest resistance has not only caused huge losses to agricultural production, but also laid a lot of hidden dangers for the quality and safety of agricultural products in the world. According to preliminary statistics issued by China Agricultural Technology Extension Service Center, over 80 important agricultural pests in China have developed resistance to pesticides. Among them, there are more than 37 species of pests (mites), 21 species of plant pathogenic bacteria and 24 species of weeds. The pests with great influence include rice planthopper (resistant to nicotine and buprofezin); Cotton bollworm (resistant to pyrethroids); Vegetable diamondback moth (resistant to almost all chemicals). Diseases include wheat scab (resistance to carbendazim) and rice bakanae (resistance to prochloraz). So, what is the cause of pesticide resistance?

1.Selective evolution of harmful organisms themselves.

The population structure (including immune function, gene change, epidermis thickening, detoxification ability enhancement, etc.) that can survive after many years of chemical pesticide use changes, resulting in drug resistance.

2.The reproductive characteristics of harmful organisms make them resistant to drugs.

For example, aphids, which produce dozens of generations a year, are prone to drug resistance. The pathogen of wheat rust has a large amount of spores and is explosive and prone to drug resistance.

3.Improper drug use is easy to produce drug resistance.

Such as long-term single drug use; Increase the concentration at will; spraying agents is not uniform, and drug resistance is easy to occur in individuals who leak through the net.

Most people think that pesticides, especially insecticides, effective period the longer the better. This is a wrong point of view. Such pesticides are more likely to induce resistance. For example, a insecticide has an effective period of more than 20 days. However, in the process of efficacy slowly decreasing, a group of pests migrate from other places, the residual concentration of insecticide on crops can no longer kill the pests. After this group of new pests eat the leaves and fruits of these crops, their offspring will soon develop drug resistance. It can also be understood that the residual insecticides induce them to produce drug resistance. On the issue of pesticide concentration, many farmers believe that the higher the concentration of pesticide, the better the effect. This is a wrong understanding, not to mention the potential harmful effects of arbitrarily increasing the dosage on crops, it is also undesirable for pesticide resistance alone. The reason is similar to the previous one, that is, even if the concentration of pesticide is higher, there will be harmful organisms that escape from the net. The drug resistance of their offspring will rise rapidly.

For common resistance problems, Chinese solution generally adopts the following measures:

First, change pesticide varieties. A new mechanism of action is adopted to make the drug-resistant individuals sensitive to the drug again. For example, brown planthopper developed high resistance to imidacloprid and switched to pymetrozine.

Second, comprehensive use of other measures. 1. Rational drug use, prolong the service life of the drug. 2. Mixing or alternately using pesticides with different action mechanisms and multi-action site inhibitors; 3. Develop high-efficiency bactericide with new action mechanism; 4. Comprehensive management, appropriate to reduce drug use.

Third, the use of pesticide adjuvants with special functions to increases the adhesiveness and penetrability of the pesticide. For example, using a solvent (such as AUSON® plant essential oil) which can strongly dissolve the waxy layer of the insect body surface to enhance the toxicity of the drug to insects; AUSON® plant essential oil is used to increase the permeability of herbicides to weeds, etc.

The AUSON® plant essential oil produced by Yantai Qiwei Fertilizer Co., Ltd(www.auson.com.cn)is a biological product made of essential oil extracted from plants and through a special process. AUSON® plant essential oil is a new pesticide synergist.  When AUSON® plant essential oil is used at high concentration (diluted 500 times with water), it can dissolve the wax layer on the surface of the worm body to cause death of the worm, and can dissolve and destroy the mycelium structure to cause death of the mycelium. When AUSON® plant essential oil is used at low concentration (diluted 1000-1500 times with water), it can significantly enhance the use effect of pesticides, herbicides, fungicides, foliar fertilizers and other products. The AUSON® plant essential oil can obviously improve the effect of pesticide by helping the liquid of pesticide to quickly adsorb on the surface of plants or pests and expand to the surrounding and penetrate into the surface tissue. As a pesticide synergist, AUSON® can solve the problem of insect resistance to pesticides and also the problem of weed resistance to herbicides. In china, AUSON® plant essential oil is usually packaged into small packages for sale.  AUSON® plant essential oil is a good helper especially loved by pesticide distributors to improve pesticide effect. AUSON® plant essential oil is also added to pesticides by producers at a ratio of 10% in the process of manufacturing pesticides, making common pesticides into pesticides with special effects. The AUSON® plant essential oil can help improve the application effect of pesticides by 30%-50% under the condition of keeping the dosage of pesticides unchanged. It has positive significance in the field of reducing the use of chemical pesticides and reducing pesticide residues in agricultural products. The AUSON® plant essential oil comes from plants and is also used in plants. It is safe, low toxic, easy to degrade and environmentally friendly. AUSON® plant essential oil also has obvious effects of increasing production and improving the quality of agricultural products.
